Animation/Artist Residencies

Experimental or auteur animators often function in a similar way to painters, sculptors, or musicians, in that they work primarily alone and their practice requires time, space and concentration. As such, animators are often eligible for and can greatly benefit from residencies. These residencies can either be specifically designed for animators or are aimed at artists in general. Here is a list of residencies that are either specifically for animation, or we know for a fact that they are open to auteur animators because we know an animator who has attended. Have you attended a residency not listed here? Email tess [at] to get it listed. Application deadlines for these residencies are usually posted in our Deadlines listing, so keep an eye on that.
